Jacqueline Fernandez was born in Manama and raised by a mixed-ethnic, multiracial family. Jacqueline's parents are Malaysian and Sri Lankan. Their father Elroy Fernandez hails from Sri Lanka. Jacqueline has two older brothers and a younger sister. Her family was born and raised in Bahrain. Her parents had relocated to Bahrain in the 80s because of civil unrest that occurred in Sri Lanka. In Australia, she studied Media and Communications at University of Sydney after completing her studies in Bahrain. Passionate about languages and cultures has led her to the Berlitz language school where she mastered French and Arabic as she learned Spanish. She was also crowned Miss Sri Lanka 2006 for Miss Universe 2006 on March 6th, 2006 and also competed at Miss Universe 2006. Following her win of the Miss Sri Lanka title in 2006, she entered the world of TV and was the host of a show about Sri Lanka's business, known as Lanka Business Report. Padukone's father was a badminton player Prakash Padukone. Padukone has had a childhood in Copenhagen as well as Bangalore. As a teenager Padukone was a participant in numerous national badminton tournaments. But she gave up her passion for the game when she decided to be a professional fashion model. Padukone is from Mangalore, and her native language is Konkani. Padukone Village is located in Kundapura Taluk within the Udupi District in Karnataka within India. Prakash Padukone is her father as well as a former badminton pro with international recognition. Her mother works as an agent for travel.
